MA DTAG Team: Attendings

  • Avery H. LaChance MD, MPH, FAAD

    Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Within the BWH Department of Dermatology, she serves as the department’s Director of Health Policy and Advocacy and Director of the Connective Tissue Disease Clinic. She graduated from Middlebury College with a BA in Japanese Studies and received her MD, MPH from University of Connecticut School of Medicine. During her MPH year, she drafted legislation to ban tanning for minors in CT and then served as a key advocate for the bill which passed and was signed into law that year. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital during which time she completed a six-week internship at the Office of the Surgeon General where she worked on federal skin cancer prevention initiatives in the wake of the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Prevent Skin Cancer. Subsequently, she trained in dermatology at the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Training Program, and in her final year she served as the chief resident. Dr. LaChance is on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology and New England Dermatological Society and has served as a member of several health policy focused committees of the AAD, including as the current Deputy Chair of the Congressional Policy Committee. In 2020 she founded the Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Group, which launched in Massachusetts and now is in over 20 states and Puerto Rico.

  • Molly Cavanaugh-Hussey, MD, MPH

    Dr. Cavanaugh-Hussey is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, Clinical Director of Dermatology at Brigham and Women's/Mass General Health Care Center Foxborough, and Director of Public Health and Community Outreach Programs in the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

  • Evan Piette, MD

    Dr. Piette is a dermatologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Mass General Brigham Foxborough, and Instructor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. He serves as Director of the Cutaneous Vasculitis Clinic at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Director at Large of the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Piette is also active in the Dermatology Foundation and serves on AAD committees.

  • Julia Benedetti, MD

    Dr. Benedetti is Director of the New England Hansens Disease Clinic, Director of Education for the Division of Dermatology at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Clinical Instructor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School, and Adjunct Clinical Instructor in Dermatology at Tufts University School of Medicine.

  • Sadaf Hussain, MD

    Dr. Hussain is Director of Resident Education, Director of Procedural Dermatology, and Associate Physician of the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Program at Boston Children's Hospital and faculty in the Department of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School.

  • John Trinidad, MD, MPH, FAAD

    Dr. Trinidad is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Clinical Faculty at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also Clinical Faculty with the Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program, and a collaborative member of the Transgender Health Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Trinidad provides medical dermatology care with clinical interests including inpatient dermatology consultations, infectious diseases, sexually transmitted infections, skin cancer screening, skin of color, acne, psoriasis, porphyria, and eczema. His research interests include complex medical dermatology, inpatient dermatology consultations, LGBT health, health disparities, care for patients experiencing homelessness, and health policy. Dr. Trinidad is active in both state and national societies. Before coming to Massachusetts, he was elected to the Ohio Dermatological Association Board of Trustees to serve multiple terms on the Board. He has served on the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Diversity Taskforce Committee, the AAD Expert Resource Group on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender/Sexual and Gender Minority (LGBT/SGM) Health, and the AAD Congressional Policy Committee   He continues to be active in graduate medical education, mentoring dermatology residents and medical students.

  • Meron Teklu, MD

    Meron is a third-year resident in the combined internal medicine-dermatology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency. She is an incoming Commonwealth Fund fellow at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.

  • Olivia Davies, MD

    Olivia is a 4th year dermatology resident in the Harvard Combined Program who is passionate about advocacy at the local, state, and national level. She received her Bachelors of Science in Medical Microbiology/Immunology and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin.

  • Lara Drake, MD, MBA

    Lara is a second-year resident in the Harvard Combined Dermatology Program.

  • Nnenna Ezeh, MD

    Nnenna is a dual resident physician in the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency and the Brigham and Women's Hospital Internal Medicine Residency.

  • Nikki Zangenah

    Nikki Zangenah is a rising fourth-year medical student at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a research fellow in the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her interests within dermatology include connective tissue diseases, complex medical dermatology, and skin of color. Nikki has been pursuing her passion for health equity and expanding access to care since her undergraduate studies in Public Health at UC Berkeley. Her career goals are centered around clinical research, health advocacy, and medical education.

  • Jake Nusynowitz

    Jake Nusynowitz is a fourth-year medical student at Florida International University and a dermatology research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital. His work focuses on dermatologic care for underserved populations, including LGBTQIA+ individuals and people experiencing homelessness. Jake is passionate about health policy and expanding access to equitable dermatologic care.

  • Eric Xia

    Hi, my name is Eric Xia, and I’m a 4th-year medical student at Boston University. Having been involved with both advocacy work for alopecia areata and the medical student sections of the American Medical Association/Massachusetts Medical Society, I am thrilled to be a part of and learn from the MA DTAD planning committee this year! In my free time, you’ll usually find me playing basketball, singing karaoke, or exploring new places and foods.

    David is a medical student at BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine with a strong interest in expanding access to dermatologic care. He’s excited to be a part of DTAD and support its mission to make dermatology more inclusive for everyone.

  • Sherry Ershadi

    Sherry Ershadi is a medical student at Boston University and a research fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where her work focuses on patient-centered outcomes in dermatology, with a particular interest in acne. She is passionate about advancing equitable care, medical education, and health advocacy.

  • Brianna Spiegel

    Brianna Spiegel is a first-year medical student at the Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. She is passionate about dermatology, advocacy, and community building. As a Student Ambassador for IMPACT Melanoma, Brianna promotes skin cancer prevention through education and advocates for legislation regarding access to sun safety measures. She is honored to help coordinate the Massachusetts Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Day, connecting medical trainees with legislators and community partners, and believes in the importance of empowering the next generation of physician-advocates.

    Aliya Shabbir is a second-year medical student at Harvard Medical School. She is originally from Seattle, Washington and attended the University of Washington for undergrad. Her interests within dermatology include cutaneous lymphoma, oncodermatology, and health policy and advocacy for patients with dermatologic conditions.

    Maria is a medical student at Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She is one of the National Team Leads for the Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Group and Founder of the Puerto Rico Derm Trainee Advocacy Day.
